When one thinks of Indian street food, pani puri is often the first dish that comes to mind. The hollow, crispy puri, filled with a savoury filling of either potato or a spicy white pea mixture, and served
with spicy, tangy water, has long been a favourite of street food lovers. Today, it isn’t just a favourite among desis; it has gained popularity worldwide for its burst of flavours and crunch.
While most swear by the classic version, pani puri has evolved over the years. Several experimental variations, such as chocolate pani puri, meat-filled versions, dum aloo phuchka, and even fruit-based filling, have found their own fan base. Adding yet another unexpected twist to this growing list, a barista came up with another unique flavour.
Barista Fills Coffee Instead Of Usual Spicy, Tangy Water Inside Puri
In a video that has caught the attention of the Internet, the barista was seen filling the crispy, fried puri not with spiced water, but with coffee. Yes, you heard it right. As seen in the clip shared on Instagram, he first poured black coffee into the shell and then slowly filled it with frothy milk and even made a heart design at the end. Once done, he then tried the entire coffee-filled puri in a single bite, clearly enjoying his out-of-the-box creation.
In the caption, he wrote, “Water Boll (cross emoji), Coffee Boll (tick emoji).” While the barista might have fully savoured the unique pani puri, people online had a totally different reaction. After watching the clip, a section of social media users had just one thing to say: “Why?”

The Internet Is Divided Over Coffee-Flavoured Pani Puri
“Noooo please noooo,” one user dramatically reacted, even adding a crying face emoji.
Another person joked, “Wars have started for lesser things.”
“Nahi Matlab esi bhi konsi dushmani hai bhai,” a different individual asked.
“As a coffee lover, I think he should be jailed,” one person shared after watching the barista create a different flavour of pani puri.
Not everyone disliked his creation. One individual said, “Try karna padega bro.” Meanwhile, someone else jokingly named the coffee-flavoured puri, “Purichinno.”
Since the barista posted the clip, it has garnered over 2.1 lakh views.
