India are taking on New Zealand in the final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. In the summit clash taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India posted a total of 255 runs for the loss
of five wickets in their quota of 20 overs. Wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson played a super knock of 89 runs from 46 balls, and his opening batter Abhishek Sharma scored 52 runs from 21 balls. Apart from them, Ishan Kishan hammered 54 runs from just 25 balls, and Shivam Dube remained unbeaten on 26 runs from just 8 balls.
During the final of the T20 World Cup, Indian batters hammered a total of 18 sixes. Of those 18, Samson alone smacked 8 maximums, whereas Ishan sent the ball out of the boundary line four times during his 25-ball stay at the crease.
The total of 18 sixes by Indian batters in the final of the T20 World Cup 2026 helped India become the first team in the world to hit 100+ sixes in a T20I series/tournament. In the nine matches of the ongoing T20 World Cup, Indian batters hammered a total of 106 sixes.
The previous record of scoring most sixes by a team in a T20I series is in the name of Bulgaria. The Bulgarian batters hammered 78 sixes in the tri-series against Gibraltar and Turkey in July 2025.
