As the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections approach, the Bharatiya Janata Party has unveiled a high‑profile roster of star campaigners aimed at energising its campaign across the state and challenging
the ruling All India Trinamool Congress (TMC). The extensive list — featuring national leaders, celebrities and popular faces — underscores BJP’s strategy to broaden its appeal in a politically competitive battleground.
Topping the list is Narendra Modi himself, along with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and other senior Union ministers and BJP heavyweights.
The list further features Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, J. P. Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, Devendra Fadnavis, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Yogi Adityanath, Himanta Biswa Sarma, Ashwini Vaishnaw, Smriti Irani, Anurag Thakur, Bhupender Yadav, Arjun Munda, Babulal Marandi, and Biplab Kumar Deb.
In addition, Mithun Chakraborty, Kangana Ranaut, Hema Malini, Manoj Tiwari, Leander Paes, Suvendu Adhikari, Dilip Ghosh, Sukanta Majumdar, Shantanu Thakur, Amit Malviya, along with several central and state-level leaders, will also campaign in Bengal.
The two‑phase elections are scheduled for April 23 and 29, with counting of votes on May 4, and have become intensely contested as parties deploy different strategies to sway voters. While the BJP rolls out its star‑studded campaign roster, the TMC has also released its own list of star campaigners led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her party’s key leaders, underlining the competitive political landscape in the state.
PM Modi kickstarted his campaign with a rally in Cooch Behar on Sunday. In his address, the PM invoked state’s tradition of “Shakti” worship, citing the Sandeshkhali outrage and projecting the BJP as the guarantor of “security, dignity and empowerment” for women.
“It is important for the country that women have a greater role in decisions made for the country. Therefore, our government has enacted a law providing 33 per cent reservation for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies,” Modi said.
