The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) has found itself at the centre of another social media storm after videos of its leaders dancing at what appeared to be a hotel celebration went viral following Union Education
Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation.
The clips, shared by CJP’s official X account with the caption, “Resignation ki khushi 🥹”, show party spokespersons Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, along with others, dancing to Bollywood songs as they celebrated what they described as a victory after weeks of protests over the NEET paper leak controversy.
The videos quickly divided social media, with many users questioning whether the celebrations were appropriate at a time when students across the country continue to deal with the fallout from the exam controversy.
Among the strongest reactions came from senior Supreme Court advocate Mahesh Jethmalani, who questioned the funding behind the protests after watching the viral clips.
“Seriously? The CJP leadership throwing a victory party at a hotel! After Delhi witnessed days of violence, these so-called youth activists switched on the music and began dancing,” he wrote on X.
He further asked, “Who funded the travel, food, accommodation, equipment and logistics throughout this agitation? Who financed the people who kept Delhi on the boil?”

The comments section was equally critical. One user wrote, “The first time I went to a five-star hotel was when a visiting recruiter took us for lunch. Where do ostensibly struggling-for-NEET types get the funding for five-star parties?”
Another commented, “Students are getting prosecuted in Bihar and West Bengal. What are you even celebrating about?” while a third asked, “What was the issue? What was the concern? What are these guys celebrating?”
Others also questioned the optics of the celebration, with one user remarking, “This is what we get when an Amity University graduate leads the protest.”

The viral videos have now shifted part of the online conversation away from the NEET protests themselves to questions surrounding the timing of the celebration and the funding of the movement, with the clips continuing to circulate widely across social media. As of now, CJP has not publicly responded to the criticism or the questions raised by Mahesh Jethmalani.
