Cameron Green believes the Kolkata Knight Riders have finally found the right balance in their squad after a difficult start to IPL 2026, with the defending champions reviving their playoff hopes through
a strong run of performances.
KKR produced another dominant display on Saturday, defeating Gujarat Titans by 29 runs at Eden Gardens in a high-scoring encounter. The victory was their fifth in the last six matches and lifted them closer to the playoff race after they had spent much of the season outside the top four.
Green played a crucial role in the win, smashing an unbeaten 52 off 28 deliveries while sharing a massive 108-run partnership with Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Their stand followed Finn Allen’s destruction of the Gujarat bowling attack, as the opener hammered a breathtaking 93 off just 35 balls to help KKR post a mammoth 247/2.

‘Getting Combination Correct’
Reflecting on the team’s journey this season, Green admitted KKR needed time to identify the right combinations and batting roles.
“There was no panic behind closed doors. I think it just took us a while, maybe a bit too long, to figure out the right roles and get the right people in the right positions,” Green told JioHotstar.
“I like to think I can bat in a few positions, but it’s about what is best for the team. Ajinkya Rahane has been awesome at the top for us, and the same goes for Angkrish (Raghuvanshi), our youngster at No. 3.
“So, it’s just about where I fit into the team, and No. 4 seems to be it. We’ve found that now, so we’re giving ourselves a little chance here,” he said.
Dismantling Rashid
Green also downplayed suggestions that he has a special advantage against Rashid Khan after once again attacking the star spinner successfully.
“Rashid is a quality bowler and I’m sure we’ll have many battles in the future. No, I don’t think I’m picking Rashid better than most. It’s just kind of how it has happened,” he said.
“I had a couple of good opportunities to take it deep against GT and, obviously, when you walk out to bat after a really good partnership, you can just keep that momentum going. The guys before me batted beautifully,” Green added.
