Hollywood star Chris Evans and Portuguese actor Alba Baptista have become parents to a baby girl. According to TMZ, the couple welcomed their daughter, Alma Grace Baptista Evans, on October 24, 2025, in Massachusetts.
The news comes two years after the pair tied the knot in 2023.
Evans and Baptista, known for keeping their personal lives away from the spotlight, had not announced their pregnancy publicly. However, speculation had been circulating for months. In June this year, Baptista’s father, Luiz Baptista, had hinted at impending grandparenthood when he wrote, “Many thanks, dear Chris. Your turn is coming!” on a Father’s Day fan post dedicated to the couple’s dads.
Fans are now eagerly awaiting an official announcement from the couple, who are both active on social media but have maintained a private stance when it comes to their family life.
Chris Evans has long expressed his desire to start a family. During an interview with People in 2022, when he was named Sexiest Man Alive, Evans said, “That’s absolutely something I want: wife, kids, building a family.” He reiterated those sentiments in November 2024, calling parenthood “an honor” and saying, “The title of dad is an exciting one.”
The couple first sparked dating rumours in November 2022 after being spotted together in New York’s Central Park. At the time, Us Weekly reported that the relationship was “serious” and had been going on for over a year. They later made their red carpet debut in 2024 at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
Evans, 43, and Baptista, 28, exchanged vows in September 2023 in two intimate ceremonies, one at their Boston home in Massachusetts and another in Portugal. Guests were reportedly asked to sign NDAs and were not allowed to carry phones, ensuring complete privacy.
While promoting his film Materialists earlier this year, Evans revealed a sweet detail about his proposal. Speaking to The Knot, he shared, “I proposed – maybe I shouldn’t even be saying this. I proposed to my now-wife in Portuguese – she’s Portuguese.” He added, “So I learned how to say, ‘Will you marry me?’ in Portuguese. And I had practised all week.”
He also admitted that he nearly gave away the surprise before proposing. “I had practised it so much that, while her and I, I’d be making breakfast, and you almost just start saying it out loud and you’re like, ‘Oh God.’ That’s not just a song that’s stuck in my head.”
The actor confessed that nerves got the better of him in the moment. “I actually think I screwed it up,” he said, laughing, “But I still know it!”
Born in Lisbon, Alba Baptista began her acting journey in Portuguese television with Jardins Proibidos before appearing in shows such as Jogo Duplo, A Impostora, Filha da Lei, and A Criacao. Her international breakthrough came with the Netflix fantasy drama Warrior Nun (2020), which gained her worldwide recognition. She later starred in Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris (2022) alongside The Crown’s Lesley Manville and Harry Potter actor Jason Isaacs. Beyond acting, Baptista is also known for her humanitarian work at an orphanage in Cambodia, where she supports educational initiatives.
