Vijay Deverakonda’s spy-action thriller Kingdom has received a lot of love in theatres, and after finishing its box office run, the movie is now streaming on Netflix from today, August 27. While fans of the actor
were thrilled by the news of their favourite star’s film being available on an OTT platform, it looks like he is already ready for a sequel.
Well, while Vijay didn’t directly say anything, while taking to his Instagram stories, he shared a post by the director Yannick Ben and gave an update about the sequel, promising it to be “even more intense” than the first one.
While resharing an old post by director Ben, Vijay, in a now-disappeared story, wrote, “@yannickben see you on set soon. This time we make it even more intense,” sparking buzz about the second part of the film.
Earlier, on August 4, Ben, while sharing BTS from the film, wrote, “KINGDOM is now on Cinema!! It has been an incredible journey, thank you @gowtamnaidu for your trust. About Kingdom
At the core of Kingdom lies an emotional, action-packed journey led by Vijay Deverakonda’s Suri, a humble police constable with a haunting past. His mission is to infiltrate a deadly drug cartel in Sri Lanka, with the secret hope of finding his missing brother, Siva (played by Satyadev), who vanished years ago under mysterious circumstances. But what begins as an undercover operation quickly spirals into a chaotic battle of wits and survival. Suri finds himself face-to-face with the ruthless cartel boss Murugan, portrayed menacingly by Venkatesh. As the stakes rise, secrets unravel, and loyalties are tested, Suri isn’t alone as he finds an ally in Dr. Madhu (Bhagyashri Borse), a determined woman who’s also operating undercover in the same network.
Kingdom faces protests
Kingdom triggered widespread protests in Tamil Nadu, with several groups accusing the film of misrepresenting Tamil identity and hurting religious sentiments. Criticism has largely stemmed from Tamil nationalist group Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK), which has taken strong exception to certain elements in the film.
