An IndiGo flight was forced to make an emergency landing after a bomb threat was discovered written with lipstick inside the aircraft’s lavatory, triggering a full security response.
According to reports,
the message was found mid-flight, prompting the crew to alert air traffic control and follow standard emergency protocols. The aircraft was diverted to the nearest airport as a precaution.
Security Sweep Conducted
Upon landing, passengers were safely deboarded and the plane was isolated for inspection. Security agencies, including bomb detection and disposal squads, carried out a thorough search of the aircraft and baggage.
Authorities later confirmed that no explosives were found on board. The threat was deemed a hoax.
Investigation Underway
Officials have launched an investigation to identify the person responsible for writing the message. CCTV footage from the airport and statements from passengers and crew are being reviewed.
Airlines treat all bomb threats as serious security risks, even when they turn out to be false alarms, given the potential threat to passenger safety.
IndiGo has not reported any injuries, and affected passengers were accommodated on alternative arrangements following the security clearance.
The incident adds to a growing number of hoax bomb threats targeting flights in recent months, prompting tighter vigilance across Indian airports.
