When foreigners visit India, one of the most compelling reasons behind their trip is the country’s diverse cuisine. From aromatic biryanis and succulent kebabs to street-side chaats and wholesome vegetarian
thalis, India’s food scene is unmatched. A video circulating on social media has captured that very sentiment. In it, a Nigerian woman seemed to have fully embraced India’s food and culture.
In the clip, the woman, who is a chef by profession, was seen dressed in an elegant pink saree paired with a blue blouse. Standing in front of a food stall at a wedding, she was having pani puris. She thoroughly enjoyed every bite of the crispy pani puri with spicy aloo masala and tangy water. What instantly caught the attention of viewers was the way she savoured every bite without breaking the shell and eating the entire pani puri in one go, as most Indians do.
Woman Shares Her “Belly” Is Loving Indian Vegetarian Food
Her expressions revealed that she tasted a burst of flavours. She even broke into a happy dance as Tiger Shroff and Niddhi Agerwal’s upbeat song, Ding Dang, played in the background. In the post’s caption, she mentioned that she tried chicken biryani on the day she landed in India and has since been trying various vegetarian dishes. She wrote, “Eating my way through India. I had chicken biryani in Mumbai on arrival on the 2nd, and since then, I’ve been happily vegetarian; my belly is loving it!
Sharing that she might try some other non-vegetarian food afterwards, the woman added, “I’ll try some meat again in Delhi later for a balanced cuisine sampling experience. For now, give me all the pani puri.”
Internet Praises The Way She Carried Her Saree
After her video surfaced on Instagram, many welcomed her to India, and others complimented her saree. One user said, “I saw her wearing the saree and enjoying panipuri like any other Indian, and then suddenly realised, Oh, she is not an Indian, and then thought, Wow, she is not Indian maybe, but she looks totally like us. She is One of Us.”
“The way you wore the saree is so Indian coded. That’s exactly how my aunt wears the saree,” another quipped.
A different user mentioned, “Welcome to India. Hope you like the food.”
Besides enjoying her friend’s wedding, she also visited Benaras and Agra and tried some famous local delicacies.
