Indian Railways is working at a rapid pace to redevelop Jaipur Railway Station in Rajasthan with state-of-the-art infrastructure and passenger amenities under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Falling
under the administrative control of the North Western Railway (NWR) zone, the station is being modernised in a phased manner to handle a projected daily footfall of 1.75 lakh passengers.
According to NWR’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO), Shashi Kiran, the redevelopment is progressing steadily. The official confirmed that all the building and basement parking work on the Hasanpura side (second entry) of Jaipur station is in its final stages, reported The Indian Express.
“To seamlessly connect the main entrance and the second entrance of the station, a 108 x 95 metre air concourse (total area 10260 square metres) is being constructed. The structural work of the air concourse has been completed, and fabrication work is being done, and the work of girder launching is proposed to be done soon,” the CPRO said.
Jaipur Railway Station Redevelopment
To improve passenger movement across platforms, two new 6-meter-wide Foot Over Bridges (FOBs) are being built at Jaipur railway station. The Dausa side FOB is already operational for passengers and the Sikar side FOB has completed structural work. However, the fabrication is currently underway.
Additionally, the work of the basement structure and building foundation development at the main entrance is progressing rapidly.
Jaipur Station Redevelopment
The upgraded station will offer a host of modern amenities, including arrival and departure lobbies, a security check area with baggage scanners, a help desk area, access-controlled departure halls, waiting rooms, retail stalls, and modular toilets.
There will be provision of stairs, 30 lifts and 18 escalators for hassle-free movement at the station. Special care is also being taken to ensure Divyangjan-friendly facilities at the station, ensuring inclusivity for all passengers.
Jaipur Station to Feature Green Building Initiatives
The redeveloped Jaipur station will feature green building initiatives aimed at reducing energy consumption. It is being built with the help of renewable energy sources along with resources like solid waste disposal mechanisms, rainwater harvesting systems, etc. A solar power plant of about 2000 KW capacity will also be installed at the station.
The redevelopment project costs approximately Rs 717 crore, as per The Indian Express. Once completed, Jaipur Railway Station will be a benchmark for world-class design, convenience, and eco-conscious development.
