Star Plus is gearing up for one of its biggest reality offerings in years and if industry buzz is to be believed, the channel is leaving no stone unturned to bring a marquee face on board.
The upcoming
show is rumoured to follow a fresh reality format, with new participants taking centre stage in every new episode. As per sources, the scale and ambition of the project are being compared to globally popular formats such as KBC and The 50, making it one of the most anticipated reality ventures currently in development. The show is reportedly being produced by Endemol Shine India, a production house known for backing several unscripted formats over the years.
Interestingly, one of Bollywood’s biggest names is hosting the show. Names doing the rounds include Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh and Anil Kapoor. While there is no official confirmation yet, Shah Rukh Khan’s name has generated a lot of excitement among television fans. If the superstar comes on board, it would mark a return to Star Plus years after he hosted the popular game show Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain?
Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain was a quiz show hosted by Shah Rukh Khan on STAR Plus. Based on the international format Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, the show challenged adult contestants to answer questions from primary school subjects with the help of schoolchildren. It premiered on April 25, 2008, and ran until July 27, 2008, completing one season.
Adding further fuel to the speculation, sources inform us that the selected host is shooting the first promo for the show in Mumbai today. However, the identity of the host has been kept under wraps for now.
