Tata Motors, India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer, has achieved a significant milestone with the rollout of its 10 lakh commercial vehicles from the company’s Lucknow manufacturing facility.
The landmark achievement commemorates over 35 years of Tata Motors’ presence in Uttar Pradesh, highlighting its contribution to industrial excellence, economic growth, skill development, and sustainable livelihood creation in the region.
The milestone vehicle, a zero-emission electric bus, reflects Tata Motors’ continued focus on future-ready mobility solutions and its commitment to advancing cleaner and more efficient transportation. The rollout aligns with both the company’s net-zero target for 2045 and Uttar Pradesh’s broader vision of achieving net-zero emissions by 2070, reinforcing the shared commitment towards environmentally responsible growth.
The vehicle was flagged off by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, along with Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran, in the presence of Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak and Tata Motors MD and CEO Girish Wagh, among other senior government officials and company leaders.
Established in 1992, Tata Motors’ Lucknow facility has evolved into one of the company’s most important commercial vehicle manufacturing hubs. Spread across about 600 acres, the plant produces a diverse portfolio of trucks and buses built to global standards across multiple powertrains, including electric and fuel cell electric vehicles. With an annual production capacity of over one lakh vehicles, the facility plays a critical role in supporting commercial mobility requirements across India, while also serving international markets.
Beyond manufacturing excellence, the Lucknow facility has played a key role in strengthening the local economy by supporting more than 8,000 livelihoods and fostering a strong supplier ecosystem, including MSMEs and ancillary industries across Uttar Pradesh. Tata Motors has also consistently invested in skill development initiatives through programmes such as Kaushalya, Lakshya, and Saksham, equipping thousands of young professionals with industry-relevant capabilities and creating pathways to long-term employment opportunities.
The plant stands as a model for responsible manufacturing, operating as a water-positive facility powered entirely by renewable electricity. By integrating advanced digital technologies, automation, and AI-enabled platforms into its operations, Tata Motors continues to enhance safety, efficiency, and sustainability across its manufacturing processes.
This milestone underscores Tata Motors’ long-standing partnership with Uttar Pradesh and its commitment to enabling inclusive growth through innovation, sustainability, and industrial progress. As the commercial vehicle industry undergoes rapid transformation, the Lucknow facility is set to play an increasingly important role in shaping a cleaner, smarter, and more sustainable mobility ecosystem for India and global markets.
