Argentine World Cup winner and eight-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi was named the MLS’ Most Valuable Player for a second year running on Tuesday after he led the David Beckham-owned Inter Miami to
the title.
Messi, who was also named the MVP in the year 2024, led the Herons to their third title in the nascent history of the Miami-based club.
“First of all, I’m extremely grateful for this recognition. It’s always nice to receive individual awards.”
“But of course, I want to share this award with my teammates, because I also won the Golden Boot award, and that’s thanks to all of their help.”
“I’m so happy to have received this award, and to be the first in the history of MLS to win it two years in a row, and I’m extremely grateful for that.”
