Actors Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem extended their support to the students protesting in Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over irregularities in NEET examinations. The sibling duo, along with her rumoured beau Rachit
Singh, reached Jantar Mantar late at night and joined the protesters in a solidarity march. The protests, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), have seen thousands of students gather in the national capital, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the issues in the country’s education system.
As soon as Huma, Rachit and Saqib paid a visit, their videos were seen going viral on the internet. A social media user shared the video of them walking with the protesters at Jantar Mantar. A video from the protest, reportedly recorded at 2:56 am, captured Huma joining the demonstrators dressed in a black top and jeans. She was seen smiling as she walked alongside the protesters. Her rumoured beau, Rachit Singh, wearing a white shirt, accompanied her throughout the march and was seen briefly holding her hand, while Saqib walked alongside the duo in a show of solidarity. After the video surfaced online, fans applauded them for backing the protest and standing by the students. Meanwhile, superstar Salman Khan also voiced support for the students protesting in Delhi and praised them for peacefully demanding a better education system. He shared a long social media post expressing his thoughts on the ongoing protest. He also urged people not to politicise the movement and expressed disappointment over the violence that broke out during the Chalo Sansad march on July 20. He also extended his support to the injured students and their families, described paper leaks as a grave issue that deserves urgent attention, and thanked parents for standing firmly by the students throughout the protest.
Several other celebs have also voiced their support for the students’ movement, including Imran Khan, Ratna Pathak Shah, Naseeruddin Shah, Ayesha Khan, Rajkummar Rao, Dia Mirza, and filmmaker Anurag Kashyap. Many of them have spoken out against alleged irregularities in the examination system and condemned paper leaks.
