Ikkis, a biographical drama by Sriram Raghavan, is gearing up for its release on Thursday, January 1. The film marks the last on-screen performance of legendary actor Dharmendra, while Amitabh Bachchan’s
grandson, Agastya Nanda, is making his debut with it.
Amid the buzz surrounding the film’s release, The Indian Express reported that Bobby Deol has been given a “Special Thanks” in the credits by the producer.
Bobby Deol lends his voice for Ikkis
Dharmendra, who passed away in November at the age of 89, portrays ML Khetarpal, the father of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, India’s youngest recipient of the Param Vir Chakra.
For the special project, Bobby has dubbed a few dialogues of the younger version of ML Khetarpal.
The creative decision brings along an added sense of legacy to the film, as Bobby’s voice further enhances the portrayal of the role’s younger years, making the transition appear more impactful.
“This creative decision brings an added sense of authenticity and legacy to Ikkis, seamlessly bridging generations both on and off screen. Bobby’s voice subtly enhances the portrayal of the character’s younger years, making the transition across timelines more intimate and impactful,” MensXP quoted an official statement by the makers.
From Dharam Veer to Ikkis
Bobby’s first film in the lead was Rajkumar Santoshi’s Barsaat, released in 1995. That project was produced under his late father’s banner Vijeyta Films.
However, not many of his fans know that Bobby’s maiden performance in film industry dates back to 1977. At that time, Bobby was eight years old and appeared as the younger version of Dharam Singh, a role played by Dharmendra in Manmohan Desai’s Dharam Veer. At that time, he was credited as ‘Master Bobby’.
Nearly five decades later, life has come a full circle for the actor as he is now associated with Dharmendra’s last film, Ikkis.
The film narrates the inspiring journey of Arun Khetarpal, who took the enemy head-on during the Battle of Basantar and destroyed 10 Pakistani tanks before losing his life.
Besides Dharmendra and Agastya Nanda, the film also features Simar Bhatia, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, and Deepak Dobriyal in pivotal roles.
On work front, Bobby will next be seen in Jana Nayagan, along with Vijay and Pooja Hegde. The project marks Vijay’s final film appearance before entering into politics.
Apart from this, he also features in Alpha alongside Alia Bhatt, Sharvari and Anil Kapoor.
