Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana Part 1 is finally out in theatres, and among other things, the film’s massive scale and visuals are receiving immense praise. While the film uses heavy VFX
for major portions, many props were made practically and cost quite a fortune.
Ramesh Andhale, the art director of Ramayana, spoke to Prabhat Khabar and revealed how the art department worked diligently for four months to create Ravana’s massive throne. He revealed that Yash’s throne was made of 24-karat melted gold and gold leaf, and cost about Rs 1 crore. First, a clay model of the throne was created to add details, and then it was made of fibre.
He also opened up about Rakul Preet Singh’s Surpanakha’s chariot. While the chariot only appears in one scene, its detailing was so intense that it took three months to make, as the team also had to make it functional. As per Ramesh, the gold-plated chariot cost around Rs 1.15 crore.

Ramayana Review
Ramayana’s collection is expected to see a boost after Diwali, and expectations are still quite high. Meanwhile, News18 gave the film 3/5 stars. Our review read, “The film is visually beautiful, and the VFX deserve immense appreciation. The makers have clearly invested heavily in bringing this mythological world to life, and several frames are genuinely breathtaking. The scale and visual treatment make it a cinematic experience worth watching on the big screen.”
“The biggest surprise package is Yash as Ravana. He takes away the limelight with his powerful screen presence and commanding performance. Strong, fierce and convincing, Yash brings the right intensity to Dashanan. His scenes are among the most entertaining parts of the film, and he delivers exactly the kind of power and impact that audiences would expect from him. Whenever he appears on screen, the film gets a much-needed boost,” the review also mentioned.
