Police were alerted after reports that a student was carrying a firearm inside a well-known public school in northwest Delhi’s Aman Vihar, triggering swift action by law enforcement.
Given the seriousness
of the information and concerns over student safety, a local police team immediately rushed to the school. Upon arrival, school authorities produced an 18-year-old student along with a country-made pistol and ten live cartridges, which were allegedly recovered from his possession.
A case was registered against the student under Section 25 of the Arms Act at Aman Vihar Police Station, and he was taken into custody.
Police said the incident came to light on Monday during a routine inspection when the school’s estate officer noticed the student attempting to hide an object inside a second-floor toilet. Realising he had been spotted, the student allegedly tried to leave the area but was intercepted near the school’s stage. A search led to the recovery of the firearm and ammunition.
The student was then produced before the school principal, who informed the police about the incident. During questioning, the accused told investigators that he was carrying the weapon due to a personal dispute with another student.
Police said further investigation is underway to determine the source of the firearm and whether others were involved. The accused was later produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class at Rohini Court, which granted two days of police custody for further interrogation.
