A viral photo showing autorickshaws in Delhi carrying large images of Donald Trump has sparked a massive debate online. While some people viewed it as part of a publicity campaign linked to the US embassy,
many users questioned why Indian public transport was being used to promote a foreign political figure.
The image was shared on X by Sidhant Sibal, who claimed that the branding exercise was linked to celebrations marking the 250th anniversary of US independence.
In his post, Sibal wrote, “Delhi Autorickshaws will soon have pictures of Trump as part of 250th US independence celebrations. The US embassy launched the anniversary celebrations with the launch of these autos. Pic ctsy: US embassy.”
He further added in a follow-up post, “Delhi autos have been used in the past for political campaigns, raise awareness on tobacco issues, advertisement & now embassy events.”
The post quickly attracted attention online, with many users questioning whether Indian public transport should be used to promote a foreign political figure, even if it is part of a diplomatic or cultural campaign.
“Not at all accepted! Indian Autos are used for spreading awareness and celebrating Indian events. Being used by the U S. Embassy or any other nation will not be accepted!” said one user.
Another user drew attention to global conflicts, writing, “Should have pictures of the school girls killed in the bombing in Iran!”
“Try to stop the war first💁♀️” said another.
Some users compared the situation with other global powers. “I bet they can’t pull this off in Beijing or Moscow,” a third user said.

Another comment criticised both the move and the government’s approach, saying, “Due to their fucking criminal act war causes panic situation in india to almost every person causing panic in lpg commercial and all . Rather a condemnation we are making them king letting them doing things like this . Whats with the indian govt man,” said another.
Others responded with sarcasm and humour. “Haha… India is rapidly becoming a colony of the United States 🤭” one user wrote.
Another added, “I am sure @Iran_in_India will create some interesting lego or other kind of meme on this as well. Looking forward to some really creative stuff from our Iranian brethren”.
