Veteran actor Pankaj Tripathi is mourning the loss of his beloved mother, Smt. Hemwanti Devi, who passed away peacefully at the family’s ancestral home in Belsand, Gopalganj, Bihar, on Friday. She was
89 years old and had been unwell for some time.
According to an official statement shared on behalf of the Tripathi family, Smt. Hemwanti Devi breathed her last surrounded by her loved ones. Pankaj Tripathi, known for his humility and deep family values, was by her side during her final moments.
The statement read, “We are deeply saddened to inform you of the passing of Shri Pankaj Tripathi’s beloved mother, Smt. Hemwanti Devi, who left for her heavenly abode peacefully at the family’s hometown in Belsand, Gopalganj, Bihar, on Friday. She was 89 years old and had been unwell for some time. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her loved ones. Pankaj Tripathi was by her side during her final moments.”
The cremation took place on Saturday in Belsand, attended by close family members, relatives, and friends. The family, while expressing their grief, also extended a heartfelt request for privacy during this difficult time. “The Tripathi family is mourning this immense loss and humbly request everyone to keep Smt. Hemwanti Devi in their thoughts and prayers. The family also requests the media and well-wishers to respect their privacy during this period of grief and allow them time to mourn in peace,” the statement added.
Smt. Hemwanti Devi had been an enduring influence in Pankaj Tripathi’s life, often credited by the actor for instilling in him a deep sense of discipline, humility, and compassion. Tripathi, who hails from a farming family in Gopalganj, has frequently spoken about his roots and the simple upbringing that shaped his values. His connection to his village and his parents remained central to his life, even after achieving success in the Hindi film industry.
Fans and industry colleagues have since taken to social media to express condolences and support for the actor, sending prayers and strength to his family.
