Karnataka take on Jammu and Kashmir in the highly anticipated final of the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy – India’s premier domestic first-class competition. The two teams will be eyeing one of the prestigious titles
that Indian cricket has to offer when they lock horns in the summit clash to be played at the KSCA Hubli Cricket Ground from Tuesday (February 24).
Karnataka made it through to the final after a dominating game with the bat against Uttarakhand with the semifinal clash in Lucknow ending in a draw. A marathon double century by skipper Devdutt Padikkal (232), a classy first-innings ton by KL Rahul (141) and a pair of hundreds from Smaran Ravichandran (135 & 127) piled on the misery for Uttarakhand with the bat, while Vidyadhar Patil (3/40), Vijaykumar Vyshak (3/45) confirmed Karnataka’s place in the final by dismissing the opposition for 233 in response to their 736 in the decisive first-innings.
For Jammu and Kashmir, their dream run continued versus Bengal in the other semi-final. Despite conceding a first-innings lead, they won the fixture by 6 wickets. In-form pacer Auqib Nabi led the turnaround by taking 5 for 87 in the first innings and 4 for 36 in the second dig.
The spell in the second innings, combined with a four-fer from Sunil Kumar (4/27), helped dismiss Bengal for only 99 and set J&K for a target of just 126. Captain Paras Dogra (58), young gun Abdul Samad (82) and Vanshaj Sharma (43) also contributed with crucial knocks in the game.
