Homebound Trailer
The teaser presents three childhood friends from a small North Indian town. The movie delves into their friendship as it focuses on their individual issues in a very patriarchal society. It traces their lives as they pursue dreams and break hearts.
There is a significant point in the trailer where Vishal Jethwa’s character, Chandan Kumar, seeks information about exam results from a government official. The moment becomes awkward when the official asks for his full name, pointing out the caste bias he suffers.
Ishaan’s character, Mohammed Shoaib Ali, is employed as a peon and is humiliated at work when his seniors deny him the opportunity to touch their water bottles.
Despite such stringent realities, Chandan and Shoaib are propelled by one common aim: to become police officers. Their resolve makes Homebound its emotional centre. Homebound’s representation of caste struggles might bring to mind for a few the role essayed by Vicky Kaushal in Masaan.
On the other hand, Janhvi Kapoor’s character, Sudha Bharti, who is also romantically involved with Chandan, is depicted as a young woman with ambitions and aspirations of her own.
