Virat Kohli and Rishabh Pant will be joining the Delhi team for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) has announced the list of probable players for the domestic
one-day competition.
The availability of Kohli, confirmed earlier this month, and Pant is expected to significantly bolster Delhi’s batting line-up, especially with the BCCI’s rule mandating that contracted India players participate in domestic cricket when not engaged in international commitments.
Delhi’s first two Elite Group D matches will be against Andhra and Gujarat at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Kohli’s home ground for his IPL team, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). The remaining five games will be played at the Alur Cricket Ground on the outskirts of Bengaluru.
Kohli joins the squad following his Player of the Series performance in the 2-1 ODI series win over South Africa. Pant, who did not play in the recent 50-over matches against the Proteas, will be eager to get some game time. Both players will be available until the ODI series against New Zealand, scheduled from January 11-17, 2026.
The list of probables was decided in a meeting of the senior men’s selection committee, which included selectors Yashpal Singh, K. Bhaskar Pillai, Manu Nayar, head coach Sarandeep Singh, CAC Chairman Vijay Dahiya, and Secretary Ashok Sharma. This list also features players selected for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where Nitish Rana-led Delhi did not make the knockouts, finishing third in Group D with 16 points.
Additionally, a list of 50 probable players has been released.
