As the Iran war approaches two months, US President Donald Trump has once again expressed strong support for Israel. Whatever be the outcome of the West Asia conflict, Trump emphasised the United States’
backing for Israel will remain firm.
Trump praised Israel, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, calling it a “great ally” of the United States. “Whether people like Israel or not, they have proven to be a GREAT Ally of the United States of America.”
He highlighted the country’s role during the ongoing conflict in West Asia. In his remarks, Trump described Israel as “courageous, bold, loyal, and smart”. He said the country has proven its strength and reliability as an ally during a time of war.
He added that Israel fights hard and knows how to win, reinforcing his view of its military and strategic capabilities.
Dig at NATO allies
Trump also took a subtle dig at some NATO allies. He suggested that countries which criticised the Iran war and refused to support the United States in reopening the Strait of Hormuz had revealed their “true colour”.
He said these nations “have shown their true colours in a moment of conflict and stress”, drawing a contrast with Israel’s position alongside the US.
The United States and Israel launched a joint military campaign named Operation Epic-Fury against Iran on February 28. This marked the beginning of a full-scale war in West Asia.
The conflict has now continued for nearly two months, with tensions remaining high across the region.
Talks set for Islamabad
Despite the ceasefire, negotiations are underway. The next round of talks is expected to take place on Monday, April 21, in Islamabad.
As the war continues and diplomatic efforts move forward, Trump’s remarks underline the strong ties between the United States and Israel during the conflict.
