US President Donald Trump is preparing to formally establish a newly proposed “Board of Peace” for Gaza, with a signing ceremony expected as early as Thursday during his appearance at the World Economic
Forum in Davos, Switzerland. An invitation that has been shared online suggests the event is imminent, even as some allied governments privately express uncertainty about whether they will participate.
The initiative was unveiled by Trump on Friday and is described as a body intended to manage postwar recovery and rebuilding efforts in the Gaza Strip. However, a draft version of the board’s charter that has circulated publicly does not explicitly reference Gaza, prompting restrained and skeptical responses from officials. According to ABC News, the omission has fueled speculation among governments that the panel’s mandate may extend well beyond the stated purpose.
