Virat Kohli is in the midst of his recovery from a hamstring injury he suffered while representing Royal Challengers Bengaluru during IPL 2026. The fitness setback was significant enough for him to be
ruled out from the ongoing three-match ODI series between India and Afghanistan after initially being picked in the squad.
Yashasvi Jaiswal was roped in as his replacement.
Kohli’s fitness issue though led to questions on how long will it keep him out of action and whether the former captain will recover in time for the next month’s ODI series in England.
According to The Times of India, the 38-year-old is expected to report to BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru for a fitness assessment and looks on track to be part of the England ODIs.
“Kohli has started his rehabilitation, and his injury is healing quickly. He is expected to report to the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence for his fitness assessment and clearance soon. If his recovery goes as planned, Kohli is expected to make his comeback to the team in the upcoming England series,” the daily quoted a source as saying.
