Renu Desai is well known for her outspoken nature on animal welfare. During the conference, she spoke against animal cruelty and safety measures for street dogs. However, the situation took an unexpected turn when an individual brought up her previous marriage to Pawan Kalyan.
Renu Desai Slams Trolls Dragging Her Personal Life
During the press conference, the actor-social activist strongly questioned what she called “selective outrage” over incidents involving street dogs. She shared other public safety issues, like diseases spread by mosquitoes, car accidents, assaults, and violent crimes, saying that all human lives should be valued equally.
The situation got out of hand when a man reportedly attacked the actress verbally, and she seemed to lose her cool. Following the event, Renu posted a video on Instagram calling out trolls who brought up her former husband and kids, Akira Nandan and Aadhya. “I have seen some comments on my way home. How correct is it to comment on my personal life? You’re saying that’s why Pawan Kalyan left me, that I am cranky.”
Both the press and online commentators had a lot to say about her comments, especially the ones about serious crimes. There was a lot of disagreement about her choice of comparison and the tone of the conversation.
She continued in her video, “Do I get any money while fighting for street dogs? I am not even fighting for them; I am fighting for human life. And you’re making such disgusting comments. You even said I would learn a lesson if my children died from dog bites. Why would you say that? I am a mother who knows the value of life.”
Renu Desai and Pawan Kalyan’s Marriage
Renu Desai tied the knot with Pawan Kalyan in 2009. The former couple have two kids together, Akira Nandan and Aadhya, who were born in 2008 and 2010, respectively. However, later in 2011, the couple filed for a divorce, which was finalised in 2012.
