Having said that, a new incident has come into the spotlight when a local resident was denied entry at a metro station at 10:10 pm, despite the last metro departure timing being 11 pm.
Bengaluru Man Denied Entry At Metro Station
A video shared on X depicts a man alleging that Namma Metro staff denied him entry into Attiguppe station around 10 pm. The clip has sparked debate over metro operations and commuter convenience.
The caption said, “Security denied admission to Namma Metro station at 10:10 PM! A passenger at Attiguppe Metro Station was denied admittance at 10:10 PM, despite the fact that the metro’s official hours are till 11 p.m. How can the authorities defend such obvious contempt for their own schedule?”
It continued, “If the metro operates until 11 p.m., passengers should be allowed entry until the last train — not turned away arbitrarily by staff. This type of mismanagement and lack of accountability reflect negatively on BMRCL and the city’s otherwise world-class image. Public transport is intended to serve people, not to inconvenience them. Why display times until 11 p.m. when the gates close over 45 minutes earlier?”
Lastly, the post questioned, “Is this negligence or outright disrespect towards passengers who rely on the metro every day? It is time for authorities to enforce proper discipline, train their employees, and ensure that passengers receive the service for which they have paid.”

An X user commented, “Because they want to go home early.” Another one shared, “Due to a lesser crowd, they have closed one entrance of the metro station, not the entire station. That’s what he is conveying.” One of them shared, “After 10 only one gate will be opened as they have to relieve the employees and the crowd will be less. It’s a written rule if you commute to the Metro regularly.”
“Faced a similar issue. I have sent an email on 30-Mar-2024, and asked for an update on this a couple of times. No response. This has been happening for years,” a user shared. One of them commented, “In many stations, due to low passenger movement after 10 PM, one of the multiple entrances is closed to avoid wastage of man-hours and resources. For passenger convenience, the exit is kept open. This has been fwd since the COVID period, so there is no reason to raise objections now.”
A comment reads, “This is what happens if a world-class facility is used without training. They will make their own decisions, making commuters’ lives harder. The workers must be trained to provide good customer service; they act like rulers with little authority.”
In August this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Yellow Line metro in Bengaluru, which runs from RV Road and Bommasandra.
