The Prime Minister on Wednesday extended warm wishes to the countrymen on the occasion of Makar Sankranti, the country’s harvest festival. In a post shared on social media platform X, PM Modi greeted citizens and highlighted the cultural and traditional significance of the festival.
“Warm greetings to all fellow citizens on Makar Sankranti. May this sacred festival of Indian culture and tradition, filled with the sweetness of sesame and jaggery, bring joy, prosperity and success to everyone’s lives. May Lord Surya bless and uplift all,” he wrote.

PM Modi Extends Wishes On Pongal
PM Modi also extended his wishes on the occasion of Pongal and highlighted how the festival brings people together, strengthening the spirit of warmth and harmony in our society.
Taking to X, PM Modi wrote, “Best wishes on the special occasion of Pongal. It is gladdening to see how Pongal brings people together, furthering the spirit of warmth and harmony in our society. This festival also highlights the importance of agriculture and the dignity of labour.”
“May this Pongal bring renewed energy to realise your aspirations. I pray for everyone’s good health and well being,” he added.

The Prime Minister on Wednesday said Pongal, which gave the message of maintaining harmonious balance with nature, has emerged as a global festival, cherished by Tamilians world over. He also participated in the Pongal celebrations at the residence of Union Minister L Murugan.
“The festival of Pongal reminds us that gratitude should go beyond mere words and become an integral part of our daily lives. When the Earth provides us with so much, it is our responsibility to cherish and protect it,” PM Modi said at the celebrations that had Union Ministers, bureaucrats, and people from a cross-section of society in attendance.

The Prime Minister said that around the world, the Tamil community and those who cherish Tamil culture celebrate Pongal with great enthusiasm, and he was proud to be among them.
PM Modi also said that the Tamil culture was one of the oldest living civilisations in the world and embodied centuries of wisdom and tradition that draw lessons from history to guide the way toward the future.
