Domestic air carrier IndiGo has launched a new daily service connecting Thiruvananthapuram International Airport with Navi Mumbai, further strengthening air connectivity from the Kerala capital, said a report
by On Manorama.
The flight departs Navi Mumbai at 10.35 am and arrives in Thiruvananthapuram at 12.45 pm. The return service leaves at 5.05 pm, reaching Navi Mumbai by 7.15 pm. The new route has been introduced in addition to existing daily services to Mumbai, offering passengers greater flexibility and improved access to the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The launch comes alongside the airport’s summer schedule, which reflects a notable expansion in services. According to reports, international operations will see a 10% increase, with weekly services rising from 310 to 340 flights. The airport currently handles 294 weekly domestic services, with new connections planned to Navi Mumbai and Guwahati.
Services to key destinations such as Chennai, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Muscat, Kuwait, and Kuala Lumpur are also set to increase. Among international routes, Abu Dhabi will have 74 weekly flights, followed by Sharjah (56), Dubai (32), Kuala Lumpur (28), Muscat (26), and Kuwait (26). Other destinations include Male (24), Doha (20), Bahrain (14), Singapore (14), Dammam (14), Colombo (8), and Hanimadhoo (4).
On the domestic front, Bengaluru will see 84 weekly services, Delhi 56, Chennai and Mumbai 42 each, Hyderabad 28, Kochi 14, and Navi Mumbai 14. Kannur will have eight weekly flights, while Mangaluru and Guwahati will have four and two respectively.
The enhanced schedule aligns with broader developments at Navi Mumbai International Airport, which began commercial operations on December 25 last year. As per a PTI report, the airport is expected to handle up to 1,092 flights per week under the summer schedule, averaging 156 air traffic movements daily. Daily departures are projected to rise from 22 at launch to 78 by April 2026.
The summer schedule, running from March 29 to October 24, will see the airport connected to 46 destinations through 30 domestic routes. Airlines including IndiGo, Akasa Air, and Air India Express are expanding operations, with higher frequencies to major cities such as Delhi, Goa, Bengaluru, and Kochi.
The expansion is expected to significantly improve connectivity across Tier-1 and Tier-2 cities while catering to rising passenger demand in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
