14-year-old year Vaibhav Suryavanshi was signed for Rs 1.10 crore in the IPL 2025 mega auction by Rajasthan Royals, and he got a chance to play seven matches in the world’s richest franchise cricket league
in 2025. In those seven matches, with the help of one century and one fifty, the left-handed batter from Bihar amassed a total of 252 runs. His batting strike rate in this year’s IPL was 206.55, and he also broke the record of scoring the fastest century in IPL history by an Indian batter.
After the conclusion of IPL 2025, Vaibhav travelled with the India U-19 team to England and impressed with his batting performances in the youth ODIs.
Vaibhav’s rise as a cricketer in the last five months has impressed former India middle-order batter Ambati Rayudu. Rayudu feels the young batter could soon play for the Men in Blue at the highest level.
When asked about Suryavanshi on a YouTube podcast by Shubhankar Mishra, Rayudu also shared valuable advice for the youngster and said he should listen to anybody.
“His bat speed is extraordinary. Jo uska whip aata hai… I hope nobody changes that. He should get better. Someone like Lara… maybe go and talk to him. He also had a similar type of bat lift. So he can learn about how to control the bat speed when you are defending and when you are playing with a soft hand. So if he learns that, then he will be an extraordinary talent.”
“He only has to focus on one thing, and that is he should not listen to many people. Don’t listen to people; just back your talent. And for coaches also, it is important that usko jyada gyaan mat do. Leave him,” he added.
“He’s extraordinary talent. Agar sambhal ke usko sahi guide karenge… He is lucky that Rahul (Dravid) bhai is with him. Rahul Bhai will take care of him.”
Suryavanshi, who has played five first-class and six List A matches as well, will next be seen in action for the India U-19 team against Australia. He will travel to Australia to take part in three youth ODIs and two youth Tests. The away series will start on September 21 in Brisbane.
