Between the Dhurandhar storm and the Ranveer Singh starrer completing 50 days at the theatres, Border 2 has now released and is getting great reviews from fans. While the film is currently being tested
on the big screens as it witnesses its first weekend since release, one of the hottest topics around the film has been the entire episode related to Varun Dhawan. The actor has been trolled by netizens for his expressions in the trailer, particularly his smile. Turns out, amid the storm, producer Bhushan Kumar and the director of the sequel, Anurag Singh, have decided to come out in support of Varun.
In their latest comments post the release of Border 2, Bhushan Kumar and Anurag Singh have only good things to say aboutVarun Dhawan. While Kumar calls him a brilliant actor, Anurag has appreciated Dhawan’s range and how easily he switches between genres. They even reveal what made them see Col. Hoshiyar Singh Dahiya in Varun Dhawan.
“Varun has never done something like this before, but Anurag Singh was confident that we could make him do something that audiences have never seen him do. Varun is a brilliant actor, and he’s deeply passionate about his craft, so he has pulled off this role with deep passion, and his hard work is clearly visible on the screens,” explains producer Bhushan Kumar.
As Border 2 manages to pull a decent audience, director Anurag Singh reminds viewers not to forget that Varun is the same actor who can be the boy-next-door in Student of the Year and also deliver a spine-chilling performance in Badlapur.
“I think people forget that he’s the same actor who’s done Badlapur after doing something like Student of the Year. I was stunned by his ability to switch. If I was thinking of onboarding Varun, I’d be going to the same Varun who could show that kind of range. I love his work in October, and I wanted that Varun in Border 2. He’s a damn good actor, and he’s got his own capability. When he came on sets, he started hitting the notes almost instantly. People should not forget his range,” he says.
Further, the director remarked in jest that people are apologising after judging Varun’s performance well before the film was released.
Border 2 stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Medha Rana, Sonam Bajwa, and Anya Singh. The film has released in theatres, and it will be interesting to see how it fares over its first weekend.
