Fire breaks out in South Mumbai building

• A fire broke out at a residential building in south Mumbai today
• The blaze engulfed 3,000 sq ft of the first floor at Kanwal Mansion
• Four fire engines doused the flames in 20 minutes; no injuries reported

Mumbai, May 31 (PTI) A fire broke out in a two-storey residential building at Cuffe Parade in south Mumbai on Sunday afternoon, civic officials said.

Nobody was injured in the incident.

The blaze was reported

at 12.36 pm at Kanwal Mansion, and was confined to the first floor, officials said.

A civic official said four fire engines and other vehicles doused the blaze within 15-20 minutes around 12.55 pm.

The fire engulfed electrical wiring and installations, wooden partitions, furniture, cushions and other household articles over an area of around 3,000 square feet on the floor, the official said, adding that the exact cause of the fire is not immediately known. PTI KK NSK
