Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday held a bilateral meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian in New Delhi, a day ahead of the BRICS Leaders’ Summit.
The meeting comes as India prepares to host
the 18th BRICS Summit on September 12-13, bringing together leaders from the expanded grouping.
Earlier on Friday, Modi also held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in Delhi for the summit. The two leaders discussed bilateral ties and issues of mutual interest ahead of the BRICS meeting.
Pezeshkian’s visit marks Iran’s participation in the BRICS summit as a full member, with Tehran joining the expanded grouping in 2024. Modi’s meetings with both the Iranian and Russian presidents come ahead of the leaders’ deliberations on global and economic issues at the summit.
