South superstar Allu Arjun has reportedly decided to bring in a more structured approach to his film commitments, at a time when the theatrical business is facing growing concerns over declining footfalls.
The move is being seen as a possible shift in how big stars may plan their projects going forward, especially as long gaps between major releases continue to affect cinema attendance.
According to a report in Gulte.com, trade discussions have indicated that the slow arrival of big-ticket films is impacting viewing habits. With several top stars now dedicating nearly two to three years to large-scale pan-India projects, theatres are often left without a steady flow of major releases. The report suggests that if this pattern continues, close to 40 per cent of single-screen theatres could face the risk of closure in the coming years.
Theatres Facing Pressure Due To Long Gaps Between Big Films
The issue is not limited to single screens alone. The report further states that multiplexes may also feel the pressure if theatrical releases remain inconsistent. With fewer event films arriving regularly, revenue shares may take a hit, eventually affecting the larger ecosystem, including the stars themselves.
Among the few actors who have maintained a faster pace is Prabhas, who has been working on multiple films simultaneously. His approach has allowed him to keep a more active release calendar compared to some of his contemporaries.
Allu Arjun’s New Plan
Amid this scenario, Allu Arjun has reportedly decided to work on two films at the same time going forward. The idea is to increase his output while still maintaining the scale and ambition associated with his films.
As per the report, the actor is likely to begin a project with filmmaker Lokesh Kanagaraj in October 2026. After that, he is expected to start another film with a leading Telugu director in April 2027.
The report also claims that Allu Arjun has set a cap of around 200 solo shooting days per film. If a project exceeds this timeline, he will reportedly move ahead with another film in parallel rather than waiting indefinitely for one project to wrap.
Basil Joseph Collaboration Also On Cards?
In line with this new strategy, Allu Arjun is also expected to collaborate with Basil Joseph on another project alongside his existing commitments. While official confirmations are awaited, the reported plan suggests that the actor is looking to bring more discipline and predictability to his calendar.
A Possible Shift For Big Stars?
If implemented successfully, Allu Arjun’s new scheduling model could help maintain a steadier flow of releases and reduce long waiting periods between his films. It may also benefit theatres, exhibitors and fans who have been waiting for big-screen spectacles at shorter intervals.
Whether other major stars adopt a similar approach remains to be seen, but Allu Arjun’s reported decision has already sparked conversation within the industry.
