Yami Gautam has shared an emotional note after winning the National Film Award for Best Actress for Article 370. The recognition marks a major milestone in her 14-year journey in Hindi cinema, while the film
also won Best Feature Film at the 72nd National Film Awards.
For Yami, however, the honour is not simply another addition to her filmography. In her post, she looked back at the years of waiting, the faith she placed in her work and why Article 370 carried a deeply personal meaning for her.
‘Today Is That Moment For Me’
Beginning her note with a reflection on persistence, Yami wrote, “Every journey has a moment that reminds you why you never gave up. Today is that moment for me. Receiving the National Award for Article 370 is an honour I will cherish for the rest of my life.”

She then traced the win back to the way she has tried to shape her career, allowing her work to speak rather than chasing recognition.
“For fourteen years, I have simply tried to stay true to my craft, work with honesty and let my performances speak for themselves. This honour feels like the culmination of a journey filled with hope, perseverance, resilience and an unwavering love for cinema. It is a dream I have carried in my heart for years and today, I receive it with immense gratitude and humility,” she wrote.
The actor’s words made it clear that she viewed the award as the outcome of a long and often demanding road, rather than a sudden moment of validation.
Why Article 370 Was Deeply Personal
Yami also explained why the film stood apart from many of her earlier projects. Apart from playing the central role of intelligence officer Zooni Haksar, she was emotionally invested in the film because it was backed by her home production.
“Article 370 was never just another film for me. It was a story I deeply believed in. The fact that it was our home production makes this recognition even more emotional and personal. Every challenge, every conversation and every day on set was driven by one shared purpose, to tell this story with honesty and conviction,” she said.
Directed by Aditya Suhas Jambhale, Article 370 was produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar and Lokesh Dhar. The film’s National Award victory made the announcement a double celebration for its team.
Yami Thanks The Jury, Team And Audience
The actor used the post to acknowledge everyone who contributed to the film and those who connected with it after release.
“My heartfelt gratitude to the Honourable Jury for this incredible recognition, to our visionary director, our phenomenal cast and crew and to every member of the audience who embraced Article 370 with such love and belief. You reminded us that meaningful stories will always find their way to people’s hearts,” Yami wrote.
She also thanked the people who supported her beyond the set and stayed with her through the less certain phases of her career.
“To my family, my team, my well-wishers and everyone who believed in me through every high and every low, thank you. Your faith gave me the strength to keep moving forward, even when the destination seemed far away,” she added.
‘The Beginning Of A Greater Responsibility’
Yami ended her note by refusing to treat the National Award as a final destination. Instead, she described it as a reminder to push herself further.
“This award is not the end of a dream, it is the beginning of a greater responsibility. To keep growing, to keep taking risks and to keep telling stories that matter,” she wrote.
She closed the message by dedicating the moment to others still waiting for their breakthrough.
“Dreams do come true but only when passion refuses to give up. This one’s for every dreamer who is still waiting for their moment. Never stop believing,” Yami concluded.
