When And Where To Watch Kaantha?
Announcing the official release date of the film, Netflix recently unveiled that Kaantha will begin streaming from Friday, December 12, at 12 AM.
The streaming giant also made it clear that the period drama will be available in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam, allowing audiences across regions to watch the powerful performances and gripping narrative. It will also arrive on Netflix as Shaantha in Kannada from December 12.

Kaantha’s Storyline And Cast
Made under the direction of Selvamani Selvaraj, Kaantha also features talented actors like Samuthirakani, Bhagyashri Borse and Rana Daggubati in key roles. The film, released in theatres on November 14, 2025, revolves around Mahadevan, a rising superstar, and his mentor Ayya, an acclaimed director. The film shows how their bond begins to deteriorate when Mahadevan changes the title of a women-centric film from Shaantha to Kaantha to improve his public image.
Things take a darker turn when a murder occurs on set and Inspector Devaraj begins an investigation, putting both Ayya and Mahadevan under scrutiny. The period drama features Dulquer as TK Mahadevan, the first superstar of Tamil cinema. With themes of ambition, ego, and power, Kaantha offers a layered narrative set against the backdrop of a culturally vibrant 1950s Madras.
