Madurai Central Assembly Constituency will go to polls in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with the Election Commission of India announcing the following candidates in the fray.

Madurai Central Assembly
Constituency is one of the 234 constituencies in the Tamil Nadu Assembly and falls under Madurai district of South Tamil Nadu region. The seat is reserved for the General category with 7.84% of its population belonging to the Scheduled Caste community and 0.34% of the population belonging to the Scheduled Tribe community. The constituency has 1,96,856 voters, including 95,632 men and 1,01,198 women. The overall literacy rate of Madurai Central is 81.66% according to the Census of India 2011.
Voting in Madurai Central will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, while counting is scheduled for Monday, May 4, 2026.
In the 2021 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led Secular Progressive Alliance won 159 out of 234 seats, while the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led National Democratic Alliance secured 75 seats. In the same election, Gummidipoondi was won by Govindarajan T J of the DMK, who defeated Prakash M of the PMK by a margin of 50,938 votes.
