Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, featuring Ranbir Kapoor, Yash and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, continues to generate buzz ahead of its grand release. The film’s massive cast has now thrown up another interesting
detail, with actor Chetan Hansraj revealing that he will be seen in as many as seven roles in the epic. In a recent interview, Chetan revealed that he was initially brought on board to play Raja Mali, Ravana’s maternal grandfather. However, his association with the film expanded soon after, with the actor taking on six additional characters that were created using motion-capture technology.
While speaking to Hindustan Times, Chetan Hansraj spoke about his experience of working on Ramayana. He also shared details about his characters in it. He said, “Raja Mali is an important character that went down in history, and my scenes with Yash are pure fire. He is such a delight on screen, and these two characters complement each other wonderfully. It was huge for me.”
Further talking about his six other roles, he said, “After my part was wrapped, I was offered six motion-capture characters, including one of Ravana’s brothers and a demon.” Chetan then addressed the criticism surrounding the film’s trailer, particularly the backlash over its visual effects and casting. He said, “It’s for IMAX, or at least the silver screen. Watching it on small screens and mobile phones kills half the effort.”
He also opened up about the demanding makeup process, revealing that it took around three hours to get into character, followed by nearly an hour to remove the makeup.
Meanwhile, Ramayana, made on a massive budget, also stars Sunny Deol, Ravie Dubey, Rakul Preet Singh, Lara Dutta, Indira Krishnan, and more. Part 1 is all set to arrive in theatres on Diwali 2026, and the Second part will release on Diwali 2027.
