Released in November 2007, Om Shanti Om also marked Deepika Padukone’s debut film. It revolved around a junior film artist (played by SRK) who was smitten by a renowned actress named Shantipriya (essayed by Deepika) but was killed as he tried to save his favourite actress. However, he takes rebirth to punish the murderers.
In 2022, to celebrate 15 years of Om Shanti Om, the film was re-released in theatres across 20 cities of the country, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Patna, Bhopal, and Ahmedabad among others. Reportedly, the idea behind Om Shanti Om’s re-release was from one of Shah Rukh Khan’s fan clubs – SRK Universe.
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan was last seen in Jawan, for which he was feted with the National Film Award for Best Actor. He shared the award with Vikrant Massey, who was lionised for his work in the movie 12th Fail.
On the work front, SRK will be next seen in King. The film is helmed by Siddharth Anand, and also stars Suhana Khan, Deepika Padukone and Abhay Verma in key roles.
