The relief has already begun. Early this Wednesday morning, dark clouds rolled in, strong winds picked up, and rain hit parts of Delhi — including Kushak Road and the Lutyens’ belt — giving millions their
first real break from a punishing heat wave.
The capital had been baking, with temperatures peaking between 42°C and 45°C over the last few days, but today’s maximum is now likely to settle closer to 38°C following the showers.
This is not just a Delhi story. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued alerts for 13 states across North India, warning of thunderstorms, strong winds up to 60 km/h, and heavy rain in the days ahead. If you live in any of the states mentioned below, read the alerts carefully before stepping out.
