If you travel via Delhi Metro and use the Yamuna Bank Metro Station for interchange or to reach Anand Vihar or Noida, you should be aware of the latest disruption.
Due to heavy rainfall in the past few
days in Delhi NCR, the escalating water levels of the Yamuna River have made the approach road to Yamuna Bank Metro Station inaccessible. While the station itself remains operational for interchange, access for the general public has been impacted, prompting authorities to advise commuters to plan alternate routes.
Key Metro Station
Thousands of commuters travelling towards Anand Vihar Terminal and Noida may experience difficulties, as this station serves as a key interchange on the Blue Line of Delhi Metro. Anand Vihar Terminal, one of the city’s major railway hubs, caters to passengers heading primarily to eastern states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
Yamuna Bank Metro Station lies on the Rajiv Chowk-Yamuna Bank-Vaishali corridor, while trains to Noida also pass through this station. This route connects Ghaziabad and Gautam Buddha Nagar, two major commercial and residential hubs in Delhi-NCR, with daily commuters numbering in the thousands. From Yamuna Bank, trains run towards Vaishali via Laxmi Nagar and Anand Vihar Terminal, while the Noida corridor passes through Akshardham and Mayur Vihar, linking important urban centres.
DMRC Advisory
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) issued an advisory, urging commuters to plan their journeys carefully. “Due to the escalating water levels of the Yamuna River, the approach road leading to Yamuna Bank Metro Station is currently inaccessible. Kindly plan your journey accordingly and consider alternate routes. However, the station is operational and interchange facility is available,” the statement said.

The floods in Yamuna have also affected the residents of Badarpur village near Sonia Vihar and Ghaziabad. Many elderly people and children have been shifted to relief tents set up by the Delhi government after water entered their homes. While food, medicine, and insecticide spraying have been arranged, some villagers have chosen to stay in their homes, which are located on slightly higher ground, despite the rising water levels.
The MCD and disaster management teams continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that rescue and relief operations are in place. Authorities have warned that commuters and residents should remain cautious and adhere to official advisories until water levels recede.
