Vadodara, Aug 17 (PTI) Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann arrived in Vadodara on Monday on a two-day visit.
They are scheduled to meet jailed AAP MLA
Chaitar Vasava at the Vadodara Central Jail at 2 pm on Tuesday and will also interact with his family and other co-accused, party sources said.
Vasava, who represents the Dediapada (ST) assembly constituency in Narmada district, was sentenced to seven years’ imprisonment in June in a 2023 case involving assault on forest officials and extortion.
The Rajpipla court convicted Vasava, his wife Shakuntala and seven others in connection with the October 30, 2023 incident, which occurred after forest officials removed crops allegedly grown illegally on government land.
The forest officials were called to Vasava’s house in Dediapada, where they were allegedly threatened, and the MLA fired a round in the air.
Vasava and the other accused were booked in November 2023 under provisions relating to rioting, extortion and assault on government officials, besides provisions of the Arms Act. PTI COR PJT PD ARU
