Ramadan 2026 Timetable In India: Observed as a 29–30 day period of fasting, prayer and spiritual reflection, Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic calendar. Muslims fast from dawn to sunset,
beginning the day with suhur (sehri) and ending it with iftar, while also engaging in prayer, charity and recitation of the Quran. The month commemorates the revelation of the Quran and concludes with Eid al-Fitr.

Fasting is obligatory for healthy adult Muslims, who abstain from food, drink and other physical needs during daylight hours to promote self-discipline and empathy.
