Investors who received shares in Jio Platforms’ Rs 30,200-crore initial public offering (IPO) may consider holding their investments for the long term, according to market analysts, who see strong growth
potential in the company’s digital ecosystem, technology capabilities and expanding revenue opportunities.
Jio Platforms shares are scheduled to make their stock market debut on Wednesday, October 28, following an overwhelming response to the public issue. Analysts believe the company’s leadership in India’s wireless broadband market, strong profitability and scalable technology infrastructure could support long-term wealth creation, although investors must also consider regulatory and technological risks.
According to a Moneycontrol report, Narendra Solanki, head of fundamental research, investment services, at Anand Rathi Shares and Stock Brokers, said Jio Platforms’ market leadership, profitability and growth prospects supported its valuation.
He also highlighted opportunities in artificial intelligence (AI), enterprise digital services and fixed broadband as potential drivers of future growth.
Jio Platforms IPO: Should Allottees Hold Shares After Listing?
Solanki advised investors to consider retaining their shares after listing, citing Jio Platforms’ strong competitive position in India’s digital economy. “On listing, investors may continue to hold the shares for the long term,” he said.
At the final issue price, Jio Platforms is valued at 34.3 times its FY2026 price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio and 14.8 times its FY2026 enterprise value-to-EBITDA ratio. These valuations imply a market capitalisation of about Rs 10.3 lakh crore.
The company’s scale in the Indian telecom market is a key factor underpinning the investment thesis. Jio Platforms has 533.3 million customers and commands about 49.8% of India’s wireless broadband market, according to the figures cited by Solanki.
Its proprietary technology stack, extensive distribution network and established brand presence provide competitive advantages and create significant entry barriers for potential rivals.
However, investors should remain mindful of risks arising from telecom regulations, spectrum requirements, technological disruptions and cybersecurity threats.
Jio Platforms’ Profitability, Technology Stack Support Growth Outlook
Mahesh M Ojha, vice-president of research and business development at Kantilal Chhaganlal Securities, also highlighted the company’s technology capabilities and financial position as important factors supporting its long-term prospects.
Jio Platforms’ proprietary technology stack, supported by 7,220 patent applications, helps reduce its dependence on third-party vendors and associated fees. This has contributed to an EBITDA margin of 51.91%, Ojha said.
The company’s financial strategy has also evolved, with net leverage declining to 0.36 times in FY2026. According to Ojha, this reflects a shift from heavy infrastructure investments towards greater free cash flow generation.
For investors evaluating the stock beyond its listing-day performance, these financial metrics offer important indicators of the company’s operating efficiency and capacity to fund future expansion.
Ojha believes that tariff hikes, increasing per-capita data consumption and the expansion of fixed broadband services could support Jio Platforms’ growth.
Services such as JioFiber and JioAirFiber offer additional opportunities to expand the company’s customer base and improve average revenue per user (ARPU). “The firm’s robust compounding potential justifies a definitive buy-and-hold strategy for long-term wealth creation,” Ojha said.
Jio Platforms IPO Receives Overwhelming Investor Response
The strong listing expectations follow an exceptional response to the public issue. Jio Platforms’ IPO was fully subscribed within 100 minutes of opening, making it the fastest fully subscribed public issue in Indian history, according to the subscription figures cited in the report.
The qualified institutional buyers (QIB) portion, worth approximately ₹5,500 crore, was fully subscribed within the first 10 minutes of bidding.
By the close of the subscription window, the IPO had been subscribed 22.2 times, while total demand across the public issue and anchor placement exceeded ₹7.4 lakh crore.
The response underlines the strong investor interest in India’s telecom and digital services sector and Jio Platforms’ position within it.
However, heavy subscription demand does not guarantee listing gains or ensure that the stock will deliver positive returns over the short term. The share price after listing will depend on market conditions, investor expectations and the company’s financial performance.
Jio Platforms Listing: What It Means for Reliance Industries
Jio Platforms’ stock market debut is also expected to have implications for Reliance Industries and the broader Indian equity market. The listing is expected to make the Reliance Group India’s largest listed business group by aggregate market capitalisation.
For Reliance Industries, Jio Platforms represents a significant digital and telecom business, with opportunities spanning connectivity, enterprise solutions, fixed broadband and emerging technologies such as AI.
Its ability to convert these opportunities into sustained revenue growth, profitability and cash flow will be crucial in determining its long-term valuation.
