Sunny Deol has completed the shoot of war drama Border 2 and is reportedly resuming the shoot of Lahore 1947, one of the most anticipated films of the year. According to a report in Mid-Day, the actor
will start shooting for the Rajkumar Santoshi directorial on October 10. This upcoming schedule is expected to last for 12 days and will reportedly focus on newly added sequences.
The film will reportedly be shot in Punjab and the prep for it is underway. A source informed Mid-Day that Sunny will resume shooting for Lahore 1947 on October 10. And the shoot will apparently go on for 12 days. “Sunny and Santoshi sir will shoot most of these newly envisioned sequences in real locations of Punjab,” the source said.
Sunny Deol On Joining Rajkumar Santoshi’s Lahore 1947
During an interview with Zoom, Sunny Deol shared how the idea of Lahore 1947 came to life. “It has been a subject Rajkumar Santoshi and I have been discussing over the years. We would keep trying to execute it,” the Border 2 star shared. “Obviously after Gadar, it became possible. Aamir came to me and said that he wants to make this project. Later, everything was yes to me,” he added.
Talking about the film, Sunny shared, “The subject is very emotional. Rajkumar Santoshi and I have given three intense films. Lahore 1947 has intensity and depth in the character. It is a play which has been adapted. Hopefully, we will try to release it as soon as possible.”
What Is The Plot Of Lahore 1947?
Based on Asghar Wajahat’s renowned play Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya, O Jamyai Ni, the film is set during the partition, and the story revolves around a Muslim family that migrates from Lucknow to Lahore and is allocated a haveli vacated by a departing Hindu family. However, things take a dramatic turn when they realise the Hindu family is still staying in the house and refuses to leave. Alongside Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta, Lahore 1947 also features Shabana Azmi, Ali Fazal, and Karan Deol in prominent roles. The film is reportedly set to release this year.
Sunny Deol’s Upcoming Projects
Up next Sunny Deol will be seen in the much-awaited sequel of Border. Directed by JP Dutta, Border 2 will feature Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty alongside Sunny Deol in lead roles. During the interview with Zoom, Sunny also addressed his feud with JP Dutta. “I fought with a lot of my directors. Sometimes, there is one strong point that comes, which happens with the majority of people. Friends also argue. But time heals everything, and you come together as friends to work. Many times, we forget things that happened in the past,” Sunny stated. Border 2 is set to release on January 22, 2026.
