A 64-year-old High Court advocate was killed after being hit by a car driven by a 19-year-old man, identified as Shishir Patil, near Sanjay Nagar in Bengaluru.
According to the police, the deceased has
been identified as Ramachandra Reddy, a resident of HSR Layout.
Following the accident, the Sanjay Nagar Traffic Police registered an FIR in the case. The case has been booked under Sections 281, 125A, and 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for over-speeding and rash and negligent driving.
Police have registered the case against the car driver, Patil (19), and have directed him to undergo a blood test. Patil, a native of Dharwad, was pursuing first-semester BE and was residing in Electronic City at the time of the incident.
According to the police, the accident occurred while Patil was travelling with a female friend. CCTV footage reviewed by investigators shows the victim stepping out of a shop in Sanjay Nagar when the car suddenly rammed into him.
Ramachandra Reddy had come to Sanjay Nagar for work and died on the spot due to the impact. Police have seized three vehicles damaged in the crash and are continuing further investigation.
