The North Goa district administration on Thursday imposed a ban on fireworks inside nightclubs, hotels and other tourist establishments following a recent fire tragedy in the region which claimed 25 lives.
The directive, issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, 2023, aims to prevent similar catastrophes. It specifically forbids fireworks, sparklers, and devices that produce flames or smoke indoors.

The investigation into the Birch by Romeo Lane nightclub blaze has revealed serious safety lapses, with the FIR stating that the venue hosted a hazardous fire show despite having no firefighting equipment, fire audit, or emergency systems in place.
According to the FIR, the nightclub staged a high-risk fire performance despite having no extinguishers, sprinklers, alarms, or smoke-extraction systems, reported India Today.
Investigators found that no fire audit had been conducted prior to opening, making the venue a severe fire hazard.
In the latest development, the Luthra brothers, owners of the Goa club, have been detained in Thailand and are expected to be brought back to India soon, officials said.
The two have been taken to detention centres in Phuket, and Indian teams have established contact with Thai authorities as the process to secure their return has been initiated.
Officials said Indian agencies had been coordinating closely with Thai authorities, receiving regular updates on the brothers’ movements and stay, and eventually learning that they were positioned outside the main city area.
Before their detention, the Goa Police had suspended the passports of Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra and sought an Interpol Blue Corner Notice against them.
