What is the story about?
A Russian drone struck a passenger train in eastern Ukraine, killing five people, with four others going missing. The attack invited criticism from President Volodomyr Zelenskyy, who condemned the incident as "terrorism".
Prosecutors announced on Tuesday that the body parts of five people had been found at the scene of the train that was struck on the same night near a village in the Kharkiv region.
“In any country, a drone strike on a civilian train would be considered in exactly the same way – purely as terrorism. There is not and cannot be any military purpose in this,” Zelenskyy said.
The passenger train carrying 200 people was reportedly operating from Chop, near Ukraine’s western borders with Hungary and Slovakia, to the town of Barvinkove.
"There is not and cannot be any military justification for killing civilians in a train carriage," the president added.
A barrage of more than 50 Russian drones killed three people and wounded more than 30 people in the southern city of Odesa, regional officials said.
The Black Sea city key for Ukrainian exports has been routinely pummelled by Russian forces since they invaded Ukraine nearly four years ago. Regional governor Oleg Kiper said a woman, 39 weeks pregnant, and two girls were among the wounded.
Ukrainian private energy firm DTEK said Russian forces had inflicted "enormous" damage on one of its facilities in the Odesa region.
Kiper said dozens of residential buildings, a church, a kindergarten and schools had been damaged in the attacks.
A married couple aged 45 and 48 were killed in Sloviansk in the eastern Donetsk region, a key prize for the Kremlin. Their 20-year-old son survived the attack in the region.
Meanwhile, the Russian military chief, Valery Gerasimov, visited fighting troops in eastern Ukraine on Tuesday to "inspect the progress of combat missions conducted by formations and units of the Zapad (West) force group."
In a video of Gerasimov's visit aired by the defence ministry, he said that Russian troops "continue their offensive along all lines".
He said that since the start of the year, the Russian army had taken control of 17 localities and "more than 500 square kilometres" of Ukrainian territory and was making its way towards the city of Zaporizhzhia.
