What is the story about?
Thalapathy Vijay's last film 'Jana Nayagan' was all set to release on January 9. Post the storm that takes over, the actor will be fully commit himself in the capacity of a politician. However, as fans are waiting to see their favourite star on the big screen, his film has landed in trouble with the censor board as per reports.
The film is to receive a censor certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) and the makers have approached the Madras High Court and the matter's updates are awaited. A censor certificate in other languages is possible only after the original Tamil version has been certified.
The viral trailer
The Jana Nayagan trailer, which has already garnered millions of views since its release, features high-octane action sequences and dramatic visual set-pieces. But attention has now shifted to a brief moment where a logo resembling Google’s AI branding, Gemini, can be seen on what appears to be a digital interface within the scene. Several users on X (formerly Twitter) quickly shared screenshots and clips, igniting debate about the presence of a recognisable tech emblem in a film set in a distinctly South Indian milieu.
Some social media users expressed bafflement, arguing that a tech brand’s logo, especially one as prominent as Google’s AI arm, felt out of place in a film rooted in mass-market action drama. “This is an absolute insult to the narrative,” wrote one user, referring to the perceived anachronism and branding confusion. Others suggested it might be a product placement attempt or even a placeholder graphic erroneously left in during post-production.
Fans and netizens also pointed out that Jana Nayagan carries a Rs. 400-crore budget, making it one of Tamil cinema’s biggest productions of the year. With expectations already sky-high, the sudden detour into tech logo speculation provided an unexpected subplot to the film’s pre-release buzz.
