What is the story about?
A White House social media post featuring US President Donald Trump alongside British King Charles during the monarch’s four-day visit to the US has triggered a sharp and satirical reaction from Iran, reflecting the ongoing strain in relations and rhetoric between the two sides. The image, captioned “Two Kings”, quickly drew attention online and prompted a response from Iran’s embassy in Ghana.
Reacting on X, the Iranian embassy in Ghana posted a series of remarks, stating, “I alone can fix it,” “I am the chosen one,” and “I am your retribution.” It continued with phrases such as “LONG LIVE THE KING!”, “Pope,” “Jesus,” and “Doctor,” before adding, “I’m not a king.”
The post then referred to the White House caption, stating, “White House: ‘TWO KINGS.’” It concluded by saying, “Only quantum physics and parallel universes can explain this man. He has escaped from ‘Dark Matter’.”
The response follows earlier instances in which Iran used memes and satirical posts to criticise the United States during escalating tensions linked to the
West Asia conflict.
While Trump has repeatedly stated that the “US has won the war,” the Iranian embassy in Ghana on Tuesday posted another remark aimed at the US President, saying, “He must be dreaming that he defeated Iran. Leave him sleeping.”
A Lego-style video shared on X showed Trump asleep while White House officials stand nearby. In the clip, one official says, “Let’s wake him up,” while another replies, “We can’t do that because the President is thinking of winning Iran in his dreams.”
Earlier this month, in a series of tongue-in-cheek posts, Iran’s diplomatic missions intensified their online jibes after Donald Trump issued what was described as a “f*cking ultimatum”, demanding Tehran reopen the Strait of Hormuz or face severe military consequences.
Iran’s embassy in Zimbabwe remarked that it had “lost the keys”, while its mission in South Africa added, “Shh… the key’s under the flowerpot. Just open for friends,” mocking the warning. Trump said Iranian power plants and bridges could be targeted if the vital oil shipping route was not reopened within his deadline.
